https://www.tumblr.com/blog/josephclawson Post 1: Hello, my name is Joseph and I am a sophomore. I am studying criminal justice and legal reasoning. I am originally from Hawaii but moved to El Paso and my time in the Army. I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones and Star Wars. I am a little quite until I get to know you but after that I tend to open up a little more.
Post 2: The topic I chose for my paper is issues in criminal justice such as racial profiling. I chose this topic because I want to see if this is an on going issue in certain areas or everywhere. I need to make my research questions to work in a larger area than in just one community. I mede them too specific. I also need to reword them in order to make it seem like I am not bias nor persuasive.
Post 3: Searching through all of the possible sources for my topic was a little time consuming. I tried to expand on my questions a little bit to make it a lithe easier to find reliable sources. When I put in my questions I got a lot of different articles and research papers. I also got a lot of Facebook pages as well as blogs that were extremely bias. Most of them I was not able to use. Some of the papers that were written were a little old but they were still relevant to todays time. With finding some papers that were a little old it actually helped to realize that this is not a new issue, instead it has been going on longer than most people think.
Post 4: In my opinion piece the points that I will be making are; 1) That police officers should be regulated more than what they are now, 2) Police officers should wear body cameras, and 3) Police officers should receive more training on the use of force continuum. When it comes to police officers, many of them are not regulated or watched by their superiors. Every now and then a supervisor may show up to to check on them, and to make sure they are where they say they are. That does not keep an officer from doing something that is wrong. (policeone.com) They should be more guidance on how to handle the junior officers in order to keep wrong from happening. The job of police officers is to help and protect the community. They should not have to worry about anything else, but in the recent years many officers have not been helping but instead they have been causing harm. Police officers should start to wear body cameras in order for them to be able to keep them from getting in trouble (for those who do not do wrong while on the job.) If an officer is wearing a body camera then the film could be reviewed if a complaint was made by a citizen. The film could also be used by the department if the officer was found doing something wrong or illegal. (ojpdiagnosticcenter.org) If officers were to receive more training on the use of force continuum then there is a possibility that many officers might be able to perform their job at a better rate. Most officers receive training on the use of force once a year after they have completed their entry training. While this has worked before, many citizens are growing concerned that the officers that are protecting them are not trained well enough. (inpublicsafety.com) If an officer was to receive training more often and regularly then there is a chance that this will remain fresh in the officers head and they may remember what the right thing to do is when the time comes. I plan to incorporate these three points as opportunities. While these points would work great together, most cities and departments do not the the resources to implement all of them together. One of these would work better than none and that some departments should look at these in order to increase their relationships with the citizens and people who they were sworn to protect and serve.
Ichose these post because these were the only ones that I did. From the very start I was not a fan of Tumblr. I have used it before was gave up on it after just a few weeks. I tried to post more but I either forgot or just gave up on tumblr. What I liked most about tumblr was that I was able to see what someone said as well as what another person said to the first. I was able to take those and add on to what someone else said. What I didn't like was how complicated it was (to me.) I looked into how tumblr works and to me it was not the easiest thing to use. It took a lot to get use to, The issues that I had was trying to find pictures to use that were already on tumblr. I overcame it by adding in a part or two so that I could add a picture that seemed relevant.
